The ‘Weirdness of Queerness’, screened as part of the Our Screen Heritage installation, exhibition and gala show in Margate was made by OSH volunteers in Margate. The film shows footage of queer life in Margate, since the inception of Margate Pride in 2015. The film shows an array of different aspects of queer life in the town, and is accompanied by a soundtrack which seeks to demonstrate sometimes disorienting experience of being queer.
Clips from the film can be found on our ‘films‘ page, with a version soon to be available on the Screen Archive South East website.
We are still looking for footage from queer filmmakers and communities! Just like our Folkestone footage, we are keen to collect films about all aspects of LGBTQIA+ life in the region. If you think you might have something to donate you can find out more here.
